Band Combining
Welcome to Tech Talk, Pico Macom's series of technical notes, featuring useful information and equipment tips. This installment of Tech Talk discusses Pico Macom's line of band diplexers.
Standard Diplexing
At Pico Macom we have been serving our customers' needs with off-the-shelf and custom-application products, providing end-to-end solutions. We provide products to suit the standard requirements of the media delivery industry. To optimize use of the transmission cable, we often combine separate frequency bands of signal together so that they can be transported on a single cable. At the other end, we separate the frequency bands for insertion into the reception equipment. Examples of standard applications are:
SUB-CATV
This allows joining or combining of the SUB-VHF (5~42MHz) from the rest of the VHF and UHF band (54~1000MHz). The use for this is primarily in CATV headends and hub sites to join or separate forward and reverse path signals.
T-3
This allows joining or combining of the SUB-VHF (5~42MHz), the VHF and UHF band (54~806MHz) and the satellite stacked L-band (950~2300MHz). Primarily the T-3 is found in stacked satellite systems where antenna and return path signals are used.
D-2
This allows joining or combining of the VHF and UHF band (54~806MHz) and the satellite stacked L-band (950~2300MHz). Primarily the T-3 is used in stacked satellite systems where antenna or SMATV signals are transported on the same cable.
TSDM-2150
This allows joining or combining of the VHF and UHF band (54~806MHz) and the satellite L-band (950~1450MHz). It is used in residential satellite systems where antenna signals are combined with the satellite signal at the dish and separated at the receiver.
Custom Applications
When custom applications arise, we have stepped up to the plate as our engineering and circuit design staff work with our customers to design product that suits their applications and perform to (and most times beyond) our customers' expectations. As the leader in the media delivery electronics industry, we invite you to bring your application to us and let us show how easy it is to work with our design staff. An example of a customized filter that we provide to one of our customers on one input band passes a few channels in the UHF band and combines it together with a VHF bandpass filter on the other input. The combined signal is introduced to the customer equipment.
Pico Macom has the perfect solution for your unique application.
